Literary collaborations offer the possibility to share with others a common ground, to create and offer a collective landscape: to manifest a shared perspective on the things of the world. Particular subjects and preoccupations, the celebration of a cultural heritage, the exploration of a particular literary genre. All reasons are good reasons to create and also to be part of an anthology.

These are the collections I’ve been invited to participate in, as a poet, as an essayist, and as a story-teller.

Ni Bárbaras ni Malinches: Antología de narradoras en Estados Unidos

October 26, 2017

From Sherezade to current times, storytelling has been part of our social and cultural idiosyncrasy. Telling stories has been a way to educate and preserve collective memory. When writing these stories we tell each other, they become testament, legacy, document.  Ni Bárbaras mi Malinches, Antología de Narradoras en Estados Unidos, aims to register the arrival and the day to day life of our culture and of our language in the US. Fifteen narrators invite us to a voyage of discovery through different places and situations in a society in constant change, in order to help us understand how we, as Hispanics, are able to adapt and to reinvent ourselves in the country that has welcomed us.

With a personal and fascinating vision, but nevertheless analytical, the authors of this anthology invite us to think ourselves in this new land, without forgetting where we come from, and where we are going to. These stories surprise us because of their dynamism and sharpness, and because of their delicate lyric vein, one that is only available to great literature.
