My Books > Editor

We are the result of a literary production that came before us, of a cultural heritage. We are also part of a community, we write with others, in dialogue with our times. Anthologies offer the possibility to celebrate we’re not alone, to explore the current that brought us here, to navigate that current and to celebrate with other authors a common search. Here’s part of my work as editor.

Between the Breath and the Abyss: Poetics on Beauty

September 21, 2021

The bilingual anthology Between the Breath and the Abyss: Poetics on Beauty (Entre el aliento y el precipicio: poéticas sobre la belleza) collects the ideas of a select group of Continental American poets regarding the appearance of beauty in poetry and in life.

Approaching the subject in a personal, creative, and insightful way, the authors discuss their perceptions of beauty and make express their perspectives through a short selection of their work. Hailing from all over the Americas, from Argentina to the US, and encompassing both young writers with burgeoning careers and older, highly renowned poets (including recipients of the Wallace Stevens Award, the Pulitzer Prize, the Casa de las Américas, the Pablo Neruda Award, and the Academy of American Poets Award, among others), the anthologized poets offer insights views on beauty through their own work.

The poets represented are: Raquel Abend Van Dalen (Venezuela), Odette Alonso (Cuba), Octavio Armand (Cuba), Edda Armas (Venezuela), Mary Jo Bang (US), Igor Barreto (Venezuela), León Félix Batista (República Dominicana), Charles Bernstein (US), Piedad Bonnet (Colombia), Eduardo Chirinos (Perú), Sonia Chocrón (Venezuela), Antonio Deltoro (México), Mariela Dreyfus (Perú), Jacqueline Goldberg (Venezuela), María Gómez Lara (Colombia), Silvia Guerra (Uruguay), Patricia Guzmán (Venezuela), Darío Jaramillo Agudelo (Colombia), José Kozer (Cuba), Juan Luis Landaeta (Venezuela), Chely Lima (US), Gonzalo, Márquez Cristo (Colombia), Amparo Osorio (Colombia), Yolanda Pantin (Venezuela), Cristina Peri Rossi (Argentina), Mercedes Roffé (Argentina), Adalber Salas (Venezuela), Charles Simic (US), Diane Wakoski (US)  , Enrique Winter (Chile), Lila Zemborain (Argentina), and Raúl Zurita (Chile).
